Fire escape

Don't Walk

I saw this light pole fall this morning. It fell with a crash, and people seemed less startled than you would think. The two people standing at the crosswalk stepped back, looked down, and then walked away. Others responded curiously, but quickly moved along. Myself, I pulled out my trusty camera phone and snapped a couple of pictures. Then I called 311 and reported the incident. Was it the cold that caused the base to snap and the pedestians' indifference?

Shortcut

Falling

Usually, no matter how bad the weather is, the downtown sidewalks are passable. Thursday night's snow storm caught the city off guard. Several patches of slick snowy slush made the trek difficult. Then I saw a man fall. Hard. He attempted to regain composure as he rose, but he was shaken. I joked with him, helping his ego up, and went upon my way. On the way home, I walked by about 20 Falling Ice signs. Here is one.
